Makeup essentials to add your vanity

Whether you’re a makeup novice or have been experimenting with cosmetics for years, here’s a checklist of all the essentials you should have. These essentials are perfect to create a simple look for any time you may need a touch-up or for those zoom meetings you’re dreading to attend.

A primer

A good primer acts as a base for your foundation to be applied smoothly and last longer. Look for a formula that works for your skin type AND your skin concerns (moisture, color correct, etc).

BB cream

Perfectly light on the skin all while covering simple blemishes, a BB cream is a must-have when you want to ace the no-makeup makeup look. After all, who doesn’t want to look airbrushed with very little effort?

Setting powder or spray

There are different types of setting sprays and powder available depending on the type of finish you’re aiming to achieve (dewy, radiant, etc) and the type of skincare benefits you want (SPF, oil-absorbing, etc.)

Highlighter

Apply it along the bridge of your nose, the tops of your cheekbones, your cupid’s bow, and just below your eyebrows. Not to mention it can multi-task as your eyeshadow in a pinch. Much like finding the perfect shade of foundation, finding the right shade of highlighter also depends on your skin tone and undertones, so it’s a good idea to test out as many colors as you can.

Matte lip

Either choose a color that is close to your natural lip shade or the classic goes with everything red that works for morning brunch to special occasions.

Mascara

While black is fine for most of the population, brown mascara might be a better option for those with very light-colored lashes.
