In an interview with Lavanya Vikram, the founder and the CEO of Blush N Curls Ladies Salon and Spa to know how she started her journey with Blush N Curls. Lavanya is an award-winning entrepreneur, skin anatomy expert, and social media influencer.
When did Blush N Curls start?
Blush N Curls started in 2016 with a concept of going 100% chemical-free making it safer for my team working inside and also for anyone who comes into the salon. I come from Skin Anatomy Medical Background & love for Science gave birth to Blush N Curls in Beauty/Fashion Industry in a safer way.
Before opening the business, I did research & came across that a certain percentage of women who died of cancer were salon workers & that percentage increased day by day simply because of the products that contained chemicals like Formaldehyde, PPD, PTD, Toulene, Acrylates, etc… Hence, I decided to start looking at those unique brands & start testing on me & my family members to make sure it’s safe.
How did the Nanny’s Advocacy start?
When I started the business, I was very clear about not just running a business but also being part of the community. I did that by making my salon 100% chemical-free.
This initiative of giving free services to house helpers started in 2018 after we saw a couple of nannies coming with their owners taking care of the child & keep looking at them while they get their services, they would ask for prices & just and sit aside. The turning point was when two ladies walked in & asked for eyebrow threading prices, they were asking for a discount to make it for AED 10, they asked for other services as well. I kept thinking about it the whole night. So the next day I discussed the idea with my team & they jumped to the idea & we agreed to move ahead.
What makes Blush N Curls special?
Our Uniqueness is we are a 100% Toxic Chemical Free owned salon. That means that all our products used in the salon are either organic, vegan, or natural certified products. It makes it safer for pregnant ladies, breastfeeding mums & kids. Also, we are an A+ certificated salon from the municipality for our hygiene and safety standards.
We have two branches. One in AL Qusais and in Mankhool. Our third branch will be open soon.
