Bollywood films that were blockbusters in China

China’s interest in Bollywood began decades ago when Raj Kapoor’s classic Awaara’s memorable music and phenomenal actors captivated Chinese audiences. Since then there have been certain movies such as 3 Idiots to Dangal that have not only piqued interest but become blockbusters in Chinese theatres.

Dangal

Based on a true story, Aamir Khan portrays the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat who fulfills his dream of winning a gold medal for his country through his daughters. Not only did the film do well in India, but it also became the highest-earning Bollywood film of all time in China.

Secret Superstar
