The actress-environmentalist recently tied the knot with Mumbai-based entrepreneur Vaibhav Rekhi on Monday. While the newlywed couple looked absolutely divine on their special day, there is one more thing that has caught everyone’s eyes in Dia’s recent posts. As per Hindu traditions, wedding ceremonies are always conducted by a male priest, however, Dia’s wedding featured otherwise. Sheela Atta, the female priestess was the one who conducted the happy duo’s wedding rituals.
Dia Mirza has always advocated women empowerment so this turn of events comes as no surprise, but it is definitely a noteworthy break from tradition. A step Dia considers a step towards #GenerationEquality as shared on her social media post.
The wedding itself was an intimate affair with only close friends and relatives of the couple in attendance. Industry colleagues like Aditi Rao Hydari, Jackky Bhagnani, and Gautam Gupta were in attendance. The actress also took to Instagram and shared beautiful pictures from her wedding ceremony.
