After doing the rounds on the international festival circuit, Alankrita Shrivastava’s much-awaited film Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare is finally set to release on September 18. The film that was set for a theatrical release will now premiere on Netflix and ahead of its release on the OTT, the makers have dropped the trailer of the Bhumi Pednekar and Konkana SenSharma starrer. And it does hit home!
Konkona is Dolly – a middle-class working mother, a wife dreaming of a better life and clearly stuck in an unhappy marriage with a man who leaves much to be desired! Bhumi is Kitty – a small-town girl, who moves in with her sister and her family in Noida when she gets a new tele-caller job in a dating app. Together, Dolly and Kitty navigate around their relationships, dreams, men, hopes, love, life, secrets and sisterly squabbles to discover in each other a stronger bond as friends as they redefine their lives and the true meaning of freedom! The film also stars Amol Parasher and Vikrant Massey who play the ‘love-interests’ of their lives!
The casting couldn’t have been more perfect. The two powerhouse-performers – Bhumi and Konkona – seem at perfect ease playing out sisters convincingly and showcase an amazing chemistry. Wth Alankrita ably helming the film, the team alongwith the boys makes a strong impact even in the few minutes of the sneak-peek we are treated to in the trailer and certainly tune up our interest as an audience.

On display is Alankrita’s expert and sensitive play with women and bringing out their emotions and inner-most desires on screen with conviction and a flair that we have seen in her previous films like Lipstick Under My Burkha (2017) and her webseries Made in Heaven (2019). The film produced by Ekta Kapoor had premiered at the 24th Busan International Film Festival last year (2019) and sees the teaming up of Alankrita with Ekta, Konkona and Vikrant once again after the critically-acclaimed Lipstick Under My Burkha.
With the winning combination coming together once again, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare promises to be a no-holds-barred twisted roller-coaster ride you don’t want to miss.
