Five Takeaways from ZERO!

Zero, a film that has drawn curiosity from all, even those who usually don’t follow Bollywood knew that Shah Rukh Khan’s latest role was a vertically challenged character, Bauua Singh. The best part of the film is how realistic the visual effects are. Playing a mini version of himself at 4”6, surrounded by toweringly tall people in his life, it is easy to forget the actor’s true 5”8 stature.

So, here are five key takeaways from Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma starrer ZERO.

The ever-charming Shah Rukh Khan

There is something about Shah Rukh Khan when he takes the screen. He spreads his arms in the air and we go weak in the knees. Yes, yet again, SRK proves that he is legitimately the king of intense romance. His bravado as a performing artist warrants a salute and all the applause.

Anushka Sharma’s terrific performance

Anushka Sharma plays a scientist suffering from cerebral palsy, Afia. Anushka has taken on the role and steps into the character’s shoes with such immense talent that we can see a true transformation. Overall, the wheelchair bound Afia steals our hearts with her charm and optimism.

 Katrina Kaif’s beauty

Katrina’s performance is impressive as she takes on the role of a troubled actress whos constant intoxicated state causes her to be unlucky in love and have disillusions about romance. Channeling a modern day Meena Kumari, Katrina makes our hearts ache for her as she plays the ‘damsel in distress’.

Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan dancing and debating over Katrina

My personal favorite moment in Zero is Salman Khan’s cameo. We were much aware of ‘Issaqbaazi’ song and Salman’s appearance as seen in the trailer. But what I liked the most is the camaraderie between Salman and Shah Rukh. I was grinning all the time while Salman was on screen.

Sridevi’s cameo

Zero has a sequence where actors Juhi Chawla, Karisma Kapoor, Sridevi, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt gather to watch SRK’s special power (Making a star fall on the count of 5). It was good to see all the SRK actresses in one frame but to see the late Sridevi in her last onscreen appearance, made us emotional.
