If you are traveling to UK, you must read this!

The season of holidays is coming soon, and while most of us are planning to travel and discover new places. Here’s what you should know in case you are traveling to the United Kingdom.

Sure thing traveling now is easier than it was a year back, but now with the new Omicron virus that’s apparently spreading quickly, the UK listed new rules for visitors from overseas.

On the 26th of November. 2021 six countries were added to the red list: South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Eswatini, and Zimbabwe. Anyone coming from these countries must quarantine at a government-approved hotel.

Those who are double-vaccinated do not need a pre-departure test before entering the UK from a non-red country, although they do still need to take a test on or before day two after their arrival. As of Tuesday, November 30, this needs to be a PCR test, and double-jabbed travelers are required to self-isolate until a negative result is confirmed.

Those who are not double-vaccinated still need to take a pre-departure test, get PCR tests on or before day two and on or after day eight, and to isolate for 10 days (with the option to test for release from day five, unless you are in Northern Ireland where this option is not available). This applies when entering non-red countries, even if the country was formerly ‘green’.
