It’s raining songs in Bollywood!

There is something special about monsoons and love, and Bollywood which is romantic at its very core has some iconic songs set in the rain. The songs are usually an assortment of desire, fun, and beautiful settings, exhibiting moments of impassioned romance or carefree yet alluring couples dancing with joy. And to celebrate the spirit of romance and monsoon, here’s a list of some of the most soulful and memorable rain songs in Bollywood:

Barso Re – Guru (2007)
When AR Rahman’s music mingles with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s graceful moves and the breathtaking waterfalls of Kerala, one can only imagine the magnificence that manifests itself on-screen.

Kabhi Jo Badal Barse – Jackpot (2013)
Arijit Singh doesn’t cease to please us with this soulful rendition. The song starring Sunny Leone and Sachiin Joshi is everything one wants to hear on a rainy evening.

Baarish – Half Girlfriend (2017)
‘Baarish’ from Half Girlfriend features Riya Somani (Shraddha Kapoor) and Madhav Jha (Arjun Kapoor) as college students. It is just Madhav, Riya, and the curtains of rain that separate them.

Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein – Zeher (2005)
It is a universally acknowledged fact that Bollywood’s best love songs have been shot on Emraan Hashmi. Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein in Atif Aslam’s mesmerizing voice features Emraan Hasni and Shamita Shetty dancing along the streets to the sounds of rain.

Tum Hi Ho– Aashiqui 2 (2013)
Tum Hi Ho was everybody’s go to monsoon track back in 2013. Composed by Mithoon and sung by Arijit Singh, this song was an instant hit. This song also marked Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor’s famous blazer-in-the-rain scene.

Bhage Re Mann – Chameli (2003)
One of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s best performances, the actress is innocently sensual in ‘Bhage Re Mann’. She dances away as the brooding Rahul Bose looks on.

Cham Cham – Baaghi (2016)
Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff’s street dance became quite popular among the audience after the release of Baaghi. Many subsequent Holis saw people rain dancing to this song with artificial showers.

Gale Lag Ja – De Dana Dan (2014)
Gale Lag Ja sung by Javed Ali and Banjyotsna is a racy monsoon number. The very catchy tune with Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif’s steaming chemistry keeps you hooked to the song.

Ghanan Ghanan – Lagaan (2001)
AR Rahman composed ‘Ghanan Ghanan’ is a call and prayer for rain. Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh starrer Lagaan sums up the importance of rain through this song. It is sung by Udit Narayan, Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan, and Alka Yagnik.

Tip Tip – Mohra (1994)

Who can forget Raveena Tandon’s magnetic rain dance on Tip Tip in a yellow saree? We all watched it with as much amazement as Akshay Kumar. Raveena Tandon literally set fire to the rain and the screens.

Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein – Ajnabee (1974)
Old is Gold. This list wouldn’t be complete without an old and unforgettable number. Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman starring. Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein was yesteryear’s song for the rains.
