Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is set to star in the second installment of the Manikarnika franchise titled Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda. The film’s target to reach international heights making it a franchise of real-life women heroes.
The aim is to bring forth the forgotten woman heroes of India’s past back into the limelight.
Kangana and producer Kamal Jain met last week and locked in their new script. The duo will be joining hands once again after 2019’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.
The new film follows the tale of Didda, a Queen of Kashmir who defeated Mehmood Ghaznavi twice in battle. Despite her polio-stricken leg, she was one of the greatest warriors of her time. Didda was also sometimes described as the “Cleopatra of Kashmir”.
The new film will begin shooting in January 2022, after Kangana wraps up her current roles. She is currently gearing for her film Dhaakad and Tejas. She also scheduled to release Thalaivi later in the year as well.
