Mumbai Police files a rape case against Alok Nath

Several women have come out sharing their stories for the Me Too movement, which has been in full momentum. Alok Nath who is one of the many accused persons, has landed up in more trouble. After becoming accused of rape by Vinta Nanda, Mumbai Police has filed an FIR against the actor under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on Wednesday. In her complaint, Nanda alleged she was drugged and raped by Alok 19 years back when they worked together for a television show.

The victim shared this incidence on her Facebook on October 8. Nanda informed, how Alok Nath spiked her drink during a party and later she left feeling uneasy. Vinta Nanda also mentioned, that the actor told her to drop her home in his car, but instead had taken her to an unknown location and raped her.

Soon after her post, Alok Nath’s wife filed a defamation case that got dismissed by Bombay City Civil and Sessions Court.

A news portal was quoted today, “Mumbai Police Additional CP Manoj Sharma says ‘Oshiwara Police has registered an FIR against Alok Nath under section 376 of IPC (rape) on the complaint filed by Writer Vinta Nanda”. This month, Alok Nath, also has got expelled from Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA).
