The Asian Ariana – Tripet Garielle is a cut above the rest. An international singer of British-Asian origin, she just recently released her latest single – Mast, ahead of the release of her upcoming album. The song grossed an astounding 100,000 views on the first day of its streaming on YouTube and is the first single from the album that is set to release mid-2019. Tripet possesses a unique, alluring voice that blends in perfectly with the adventurous theme of her songs.
Upon giving a listen to Mast, we decided to talk to the upcoming artist about the depth and meaning behind her latest song, her future plans as an artist, and more!
How did your musical journey begin?
I first entered the world of music when I was trying to impress my ex-boyfriend, who was an aspiring Bollywood actor. I felt like I had to compete with doing something on the same level so I signed up for singing lessons. Little did I know, 9 years later, I would be two albums down. I always had an artistic side to me. It’s the best thing that happened to me so far. You realise that life will always show you the path meant for you, even if it’s in the weirdest of ways. I always seek to bring out the best in me with anyone I meet in life. That was a classic example of being around people who bring out the best in you.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
For me, Bollywood was my biggest influence because I grew up in a family that only listened to Bollywood music. So, voice of the Indian legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar, was my main influence. It wasn’t until my twenties that I started listening to western greats such as Mariah Carey who I listen to almost daily now. I do love Amr Diab, as he is a great singer with a contemporary style. Something I’m aspiring to emulate.
In terms of music, how would you describe your signature style?
I would describe my signature style as melodic with a cheeky vibe. It’s a fusion of the Bollywood melody influence with the modern-day pop.
Tell us about the meaning behind your latest single – ‘Mast’.
Mast represents the power trips between a man and a woman and was based on the story of the Greek goddess Hecate who was the goddess of the moon and magic having power over the sea, heaven and earth. The video demonstrates the dominating powers between the two genders and how these powers come together in the name of love.
What does Tripet Garielle like to do when she isn’t working on the next big hit?
That’s a hard question to answer. Right now, my life is 24-7 revolved around creating my next hit. I’m laughing because of course every artist wants a big hit but it takes a lot of hard work and creativity to get fans to really like the music and video. I do like going to spas when I get a chance and I’m also working on launching my beauty brand for 2019. My main focus has been the music and so the beauty brand has kind of taken a back seat but it’s almost ready to launch (fingers crossed).
Out of the 9 songs from your debut album ‘Love Was My Idea’, which one is your personal favorite, and why?
My absolute favourite from the album is a song called Woh Pal. It’s the lead single and whilst acoustic romantic sad song it’s melody sends me into this hypnotic state. Happens on stage to me too, as soon as I sing that song, I seem to forget I’m standing in a hall in front of 000’s.
What should fans expect from your upcoming album?
My second album is due for release July 23rd 2019. It’s all produced in Dubai and couple of Dubai short videos which I’m looking forward to launching in next couple of months. I would say the second album is Tripet V2. It’s totally different to the first starting with Mast. I still love my slow jams but the second album is more upbeat.
Who would the Asian Ariana like to collaborate with next?
I would love to collaborate with Ariana Grande herself. She’s such a super trendy artist I can imagine it would be fun.
Lastly, do you have any special message for your fans?
I always spread the same message. Follow what’s in your hearts. Give up social media and go chase your dreams.
