Vidya Balan explores new waters as she gets ready to make her debut in Tamil cinema with the remake of 2016 social thriller – Pink, which starred Amitabh Bachhan alongside Taapsee Pannu. Balan’s last cinematic appearance was in the Telugu film – NTR Kathanayakudu in which she played the wife of the lead protagonist.
The film will be directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Bonnie Kapoor, who will also be making a production debut with the same. This untitled film, shall follow the same plot of its original Bollywood counterpart and shall bring light to important moral issues such as consent and women’s rights
Sources report that the actress will be paired alongside Ajith Kumar and will act as a catalyst to the plot. The film will also stars Arjun Chidambaram, Andrea Tariang, Aswin Rao, Adhik Ravichandran, Abhirami Venkatachalam and Sujith Shankar among others.
In a statement released by the producer himself, Bonny Kapoor mentioned, “Happy to introduce Vidya Balan to Tamil audiences. She is paired with Ajith and her role is very special.”
He also previously stated, “While working with Ajith in English Vinglish, Sridevi had expressed her desire that Ajith does a Tamil film for our home production…. Ajith suggested remaking Pink in Tamil.” Kapoor further stated that he will be working on another film with Ajith in order to fulfil Sridevi’s wish.
The soon to be titled film is predicted to release on the 1st of May and is currently being filmed in Hyderabad.
