Ali Sethi Live & Unplugged

Pakistan’s leading music sensation Ali Sethi will enthrall the audience at Madinat Theatre on Saturday, March 10th.

Some know Sethi as a novelist while others recognize him for being the master of mellifluous melodies that have lasting value. He is both and has many feathers in his cap.

The Harvard graduate’s concert is expected to draw over 500 young and old South Asian community members. This is the artist’s second performance in a row within the last two years in Dubai, speaks volumes of his fan following.

Ayesha Imtiaz of Poetic Strokes who introduced him to crowds in Dubai said, “The musical is set to be a creative and stimulating evening of bonding communities together, the singer being a wonderful orator will briefly speak about his each piece before singing it”.

Apart from lending his voice to the soundtrack of films like the Bollywood film masterpiece Manto and the acclaimed The Reluctant Fundamentalist, the thirty-four-year-old has covered several difficult songs over the years that were once made famous by others or used in Gulf films and have been resurrected in memory by him in a singular fashion.

Some notable examples include ‘Kithay Nain Na Jorin, ‘Haal Aisa Nahin’ and ‘Yaad Mein Teri’.

Ambika Vohra who is also a lead organizer of the event is all completely in awe of the young talent. She said “Sethi has followed his passion and brings about incredible pieces of well trained soulful classical music”.

After sharing the music scene with the music maestro ‘Abida Parveen’ in coke studio’s “Aaqa” last year, his rise and rise has been simply marvelous.

A disciple of Ustaad Naseeruddin Sami, he has got a spark of merging his artistic penchant with academia, Sethi was a participant in Lahore Literary Festival in New York earlier this summer and took the stage in Lahore as part of a music and poetry recital event called Misaq-e-Ishq (The Covenant of Love).

In addition, Sethi also took the stage at the Lux Style Awards in 2017 as a presenter and performer respectively.
