The Dhurandhar The Revenge box office opening was the biggest in Hindi cinema history, with a record premiere night and a ₹99 crore first day from the Hindi version alone. Here are the numbers, how they compare and why UAE viewers could not see it in cinemas.

The Dhurandhar The Revenge box office story began with ₹44 crore nett from paid premieres on 18 March 2026, an all-time Indian record. Aditya Dhar’s sequel, starring Ranveer Singh, then earned ₹99.10 crore from its Hindi version on its official opening day, 19 March, beating the ₹70.30 crore Hindi opening of Pushpa 2.

Within five days it had crossed ₹800 crore worldwide. All of it happened without a single screening in the Gulf.

Dhurandhar The Revenge box office: the record premiere

Variety India reported that the paid premieres on the eve of release collected ₹44 crore nett, more than double the previous record of just over ₹21 crore set by Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG.

Maharashtra led with ₹10.12 crore, followed by Delhi at ₹7.27 crore and Karnataka at ₹6.77 crore. Telangana, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu each added more than ₹2 crore.

The night was not smooth. Some shows were cancelled because prints arrived late, Kannada and Malayalam screenings were the worst affected, and Aditya Dhar issued a public apology for the disruption.

The biggest Hindi opening day ever

On its official release day, the Hindi version earned ₹99.10 crore, according to The Week’s records tracker. That beat Pushpa 2‘s Hindi opening by almost ₹29 crore.

The film also played in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, but the Hindi version did most of the heavy lifting. Across all languages, Sacnilk figures quoted by WION put the Thursday at ₹102.55 crore nett in India.

The opening is even more striking given the format. Dhurandhar: The Revenge runs 229 minutes in Indian cinemas and carries an A certificate, which limits both the number of daily shows and the family audience.

Dhurandhar The Revenge box office: the first weekend

The first weekend delivered the film’s most unusual record: more than ₹100 crore in Hindi nett on both Saturday and Sunday, a first for any Indian film. WION’s all-language figures show ₹113 crore on Saturday and ₹114.85 crore on Sunday.

Worldwide, the opening weekend grossed about ₹759.91 crore, including roughly ₹209.60 crore from overseas markets. The Hindi version then reached ₹500 crore in just six days, the fastest any Hindi film has got there.

Day five and the ₹800 crore mark

Monday brought a natural dip to ₹65 crore nett, but the film still held about 44% occupancy across more than 20,000 screenings. According to WION’s day five report, that took the India total to ₹519.12 crore nett and the worldwide gross to ₹829.76 crore.

The first film built the audience. Dhurandhar became the highest-grossing Hindi film in India in its own right, so the sequel arrived with viewers already waiting.

Other films got out of the way. Yash’s Toxic left its 19 March date, and Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla later moved from 10 to 17 April after requests from distributors and exhibitors, with producer Ekta Kapoor citing the sequel’s exceptional run.

Event marketing worked too. The trailer passed 312 million views across social platforms within 48 hours, and the eve-of-release premiere strategy turned release week into an event.

The Dhurandhar The Revenge box office without the Gulf

UAE fans could not watch it on the big screen. Like the first film, the sequel was not released in GCC cinemas. The Dhurandhar The Revenge box office records were set without the Gulf, one of Bollywood’s biggest overseas markets, which makes the numbers more striking.

UAE viewers got their chance on 15 May, when Netflix began streaming the extended Raw and Undekha cut. The first Dhurandhar has been on Netflix UAE since late January.

Dhurandhar The Revenge box office overseas

Even without the Gulf, the international numbers were huge. On 5 April it became the first Indian film to cross $25 million in North America, and it also became the highest-grossing Indian film ever in Germany.

By its fifth week it held the same record in the UK, with £4.388 million, in Australia, with $8.255 million, and in New Zealand. Overseas markets contributed about ₹475.93 crore of the final Dhurandhar The Revenge box office total.

What came next for the Dhurandhar The Revenge box office

The opening was only the start. The film reached ₹1,000 crore worldwide in seven days, against Jawan‘s 18, and on 6 April it became the first Hindi film to pass ₹1,000 crore nett in India.

It finished with more than ₹1,852 crore worldwide, the second-highest total for any Indian film, with more than 4 crore admissions and over 15 million tickets sold on BookMyShow alone.
