FROM DUNES TO DISNEY: Abu Dhabi welcomes Middle Easts’ first Disneyland theme park!

The Walt Disney Company just dropped some major pixie dust, announcing plans to open a brand-new Disneyland theme park in Abu Dhabi, marking its first-ever resort in the region. Yas Island – home to roller coasters and Ferrari World – is about to become the next happiest place on Earth. In partnership with local developer Miral, this waterfront wonderland is gearing up to charm visitors from the Middle East, Africa, India, Asia, Europe, and basically anyone with a love for fairy tales and fireworks.

“Disneyland Abu Dhabi will be authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati, an oasis of extraordinary Disney entertainment at this crossroads of the world.”

– Disney CEO Robert Iger

The announcement arrives just ahead of a high-profile tour by former U.S. President Donald Trump through the region. But we’re more focused on whether Elsa’s going to be heat-proof in the desert.

Disney says the Abu Dhabi resort will blend beloved characters, iconic rides, and the kingdom’s stunning shoreline and modern architecture. And yes, Mickey might just trade his bowtie for a kandura.

This marks the seventh Disney resort globally – a club that started way back in 1955 with the original Disneyland in California. Iger put it plainly for millions of Disney fans across the region, flying to Paris or Tokyo for a hug from Olaf is not exactly budget-friendly, therefore, it’s opening soon in Abu Dhabi.

Plus, with neighbors like the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the soon-to-come Guggenheim, Disney’s about to have some artsy company!
