Kantara redefined storytelling in Indian cinema when it released in 2022, becoming the year’s biggest blockbuster. Backed by Hombale Films and directed by Rishab Shetty, the film brought to light the folklore tale and ritual of Bootha Kola, giving audiences a cinematic glimpse into one of Karnataka’s oldest traditions. Celebrated widely for showcasing not just the ritual but also its cultural essence, Kantara has been embraced as a cinematic treasure.
Adding to its legacy, India Post has now paid tribute to Bootha Kola by releasing a Special Cover and two Picture Postcards celebrating Karnataka’s vibrant tradition. India Post shared pictures on social media, presenting the Special Cover and Postcards to Rishab Shetty and producer Vijay Kiragandur. This release stands as a tribute to the ritual spotlighted for global audiences through Kantara.

After the massive success of Kantara, Hombale Films is set to return with its much-awaited prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1. Written, directed, and headlined by Rishab Shetty, the film is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the prestigious banner of Hombale Films. The film features cinematography by Arvind S. Kashyap and music by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, both of whom were instrumental in creating the magical world of the original. Kantara: Chapter 1 is scheduled for a grand worldwide release on October 2, 2025.
