Middle East Fashion Week: Dubai Edition is coming back in November

The Middle East Fashion Week is set to be in the spotlight with its most awaited 2nd Edition this November. Having raised the bar with its 1st edition, this next one promises to further elevate the high international standards it set. Glamour will meet substance once again.

The first edition of Middle East Fashion Week in March was a resounding success with legendary Professor Jimmy Choo OBE stunning the audience with his exquisite couture and bridal line, The Atelier Couture.

Originally from the Philippines, Ezra Santos came to Dubai in 1993 when the local fashion scene was in its infancy. Fast forward 29 years and the legendary designer is famed for dressing A-listers around the world in ornate, embellished gowns – from European and Middle Eastern royalty to celebrities including Lady Gaga Britney Spears, Nicole Scherzinger and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

“I am honoured and excited to exhibit my latest collection in Dubai after four years. I chose the Middle East Fashion Week – a fashion event of the highest international calibre. As the fashion capital of the Middle East, I believe that MEFW will finally put Dubai on the international fashion map having created a globally recognised fashion week. They bring so much to the table; their vision and professionalism are perfectly aligned with what a fashion week should be focused on,” said Ezra Santos, owner and Creative Director, Ezra Couture.

Middle East Fashion Week is set to bring talent across categories ranging from Couture to Street, filling the programme with four days of spectacular runway shows.

Governed by the Middle East Fashion Council, this edition highlights the business to business segment, creating that much needed platform for local and global talent to connect with retailers and buyers. The “MEFW Showrooms” will be at the same venue, allowing guests to move from the glamour of the catwalk to the showrooms between shows and be able to touch and feel the collections upfront.

The 2nd edition of the Middle East Sustainable Fashion Forum promises to bring thought provoking discussions wherein best in class international and regional speakers will engage to elevate the conversation around sustainability, luxury and fashion.

The region is home to fantastic designers, yearning to share their creations with the world. With international and local buyers flocking to Middle East Fashion Week, it is without a doubt this is the perfect platform to make their debut,” said Simon J Lo Gatto, founder and CEO of MEFW and MEFC.

“While the glitz and glamour of the runway makes a lasting impression, the real magic happens behind the scenes. By bringing the brightest minds in the industry under one roof, we are working hard to help our designers propel their careers. We at the MEFW strive to set the wheels of change in motion for the fashion eco system in the region. Beyond silk and sequins, fashion is a key driver as a form of art passed down generations,  one that creates employment and connects us all in so many ways” adds Payal Kshatriya Cerri, co-founder of MEFW and MEFC.

During the opening ceremony on 7 November, industry leaders, designers and fashionistas will meet, network, and get ready for the upcoming week of fashion, followed by four days of fashion shows at The Agenda, Dubai Media City.

A closing party on November 10 will mark the end of the event for another year, as designers, buyers and industry leaders will celebrate another successful season.
