Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury reveals why he chose Kolkata as the backdrop for LOST

The Pink filmmaker’s next starring Yami Gautam, Pankaj Kapur and Rahul Khanna is set against the Kolkata backdrop

Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury is known for creating immersive, impactful, backdrops that play a pivotal role in the narrative. Earlier, the celebrated filmmaker’s National Award-winning film Pink used Delhi as a backdrop to intensify the drama. Now he has chosen Kolkata for his next outing, LOST.

While speaking about setting the LOST universe in the heartland of Bengal, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury said, “Every screenplay itself demands a particular landscape. LOST is an emotional thriller and is a story about relationships and commitment. For the same flavour, Kolkata fits the bill perfectly. There is a warmth in the city that we needed in our film. It is also a politically aware city. While we were writing it, we knew it had to be shot in Kolkata.”

It will be exciting to watch the essence of Bengal come alive on screen through the lens of 3 times National Award-winning director. The film will highlight the underbelly of the urban city that often goes unnoticed.

Meanwhile, Yami Gautam will headline the film. Pankaj Kapoor, Rahul Khanna, Neil Bhoopalam, Pia Bajpiee, and Tushar Pandey will essay pivotal roles. The screenplay is written by Shyamal Sengupta, dialogues by Ritesh Shah, and story by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and Shyamal Sengupta. LOST is produced by Zee Studios, Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishor Arora, Sam Fernandes, and Indrani Mukherjee.
