Pankaj Tripathi in ‘Oh My God’ sequel

The sequel to 2012’s Oh My God went on floors in Mumbai today which has Pankaj instead of Paresh Rawal. The film will see Akshay Kumar playing Lord Krishna. In the first part, Paresh Rawal played the lead along with Akshay. In the sequel, Pankaj Tripathi plays the lead along with Akshay Kumar. Yami Gautam is the female lead of the much awaited Oh My God 2. Helmed by Amit Rai, the film is bankrolled by Ashwin Varde along with Akshay Kumar.

Pankaj Tripathi will shoot his solo sequences from today in Mumbai, and his shoot will reportedly continue for the next few days. He will then be joined by Yami Gautam. Akshay Kumar will reportedly join the team in October. The actor has about 20 days to complete his portions of the film.

The makers have come up with a unique story that is centered around the three main characters of Akshay, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami. This would mark the second collaboration of Pankaj Tripathi with Akshay, as the two recently worked together on the Sajid Nadiadwala production, Bachchan Pandey, directed by Farhad Samji. The first part of Oh My God was about the hilarious journey of Paresh Rawal’s atheist character who was angry after an earthquake destroyed his shop, and wanted to sue god in the court.

Early this year, it was first reported that Akshay Kumar is bringing a sequel to Oh My God, which was supposed to go on floors by Summer 2021. However, shooting plans were postponed due to the second wave of Covid-19 and the lockdown from the April this year.

Pankaj Tripathi was recently seen in the film Mimi along wit Kriti Sanon. The talented actor will be next seen in the cricket drama 83′ alongside Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. He will also share screen space with Akshay Kumar in Bachchan Pandey.
