A black comedy written by Keith Gomes and starring Sayani Gupta, Shameless, is India’s official entry for the Live Action Short Film Category at the 93rd Oscars. The movie also starring Hussain Dala and Rishab Kapoor is a 15-minute story of a man who remotely works and frequently orders food online, only to soon find himself tied up by a very apologetic and flustered girl.
Shameless beat Vidya Balan’s Natkhat and four other short films in the Oscars entry race. Shameless is a story revolving around the disconnectivity among humans due to technology and the lack of empathy and humanity towards the working class. The movie released in April 2019.
Keith Gomes has also written for the blockbuster movie Kick, starring Salman Khan and Child’s Play. Hussain Dalal is best known for his role in Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani and Greater Elephant.
On a related note, the Malayalam movie, Jallikattu by Lijo Jose Pellissery and starring Antony Varghese and Santhy Balachandran is also India’s official entry to the Best International Feature Film Category at the 2021 Oscars, beating 26 other movies.
