Sohum Shah hopes for a darker, scarier Tumbbad 2

Actor-Producer Sohum Shah has a lot on his plate his year. Besides starring in Zoya Akhtar’s web-series Fallen – that also stars Sonakshi Sinha and is directed by Reema Kagti – the actor is also set to shoot for Ajay Devgn’s production The Big Bull co-starring Abhishek Bachchan. However, while both these projects and a few others lined up had been put on hold temporarily due to the lockdown, the Tumbbad star revealed that the time off gave him more time to work on the script of Tumbbad 2. The actor shares that the sequel to his hit 2018 horror film is definitely on the cards and they are working on the film’s script at present.

“The script for Tumbbad 2 is underway. And not just Tumbbad 2, we hope to explore and take the concept further like a franchise. It’s definitely a film I’m most excited about. Tumbbad was the most challenging film I’ve done as an actor and a producer, and it is also the closest to my heart,” says Sohum, adding that he hopes the sequels are darker and scarier than the original. While the actor had earned much critical acclaim as a producer and actor with his Anand Gandhi film Ship of Theseus, it was his role as Vinayak Rao in Tumbbad that catapulted him to instant fame.

But this is not the only sequel Sohum is looking forward to. The actor who was last seen in the role of Vikramjeet in the Shah Rukh Khan produced web-series Bard of Blood is also excited about the Emraan Hashmi-starrer spy thriller’s second season. “Yes, that should be underway post lockdown too. I’m waiting for that too,” he says. Well, with so much waiting to happen, looks like Sohum is set to have a real busy year ahead.
