Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown announces debut novel, inspired by family history

Is there anything she can’t do?!

It’s not enough that 19-year old Millie Bobby Brown is a successful actress, producer, and the founder of a vegan beauty brand. She is spreading her wings and dabbling into other forms of art. The most recent being, that of writing. The Stranger Things and Enola Holmes star is turning author with her debut novel, being published by William Morrow, and imprint of Harper Collins.

For the novel, titled Nineteen Steps, Brown looks back her own family’s history for inspiration. It’s a moving tale of longing, loss and secrets, and the lengths that we will go to fight for love. Set against the backdrop of World War II, it is the story of her grandmother from her youth. “Nineteen Steps is a historical novel about an amazing, courageous 18-year-old woman called Nellie Morris, who lives with her family in Bethnal Green, in London’s East End, while the second world war rages on around them. When a tragic accident occurs during an air raid one night, the consequences are catastrophic – and life will never be the same again for Nellie,” Brown said via a social media statement.

It is slated for a September 12 release, and open for pre-order now.
