The Drishyam 3 box office run has given Ajay Devgn the biggest opening of his career, and in eight days the Hindi film crossed ₹400 crore worldwide. Here is how the numbers stack up, and how it compares with Mohanlal’s Malayalam original.
The Drishyam 3 box office story began with ₹62 crore nett in India on Friday 2 October 2026, Gandhi Jayanti, the best first day Ajay Devgn has ever had. By its second Friday, the Hindi film, titled Drishyam: The Conclusion, had reached ₹260 crore nett in India and ₹407 crore gross worldwide, according to Sacnilk figures reported by The Week.
That is already well past the lifetime total of Mohanlal’s Malayalam Drishyam 3, which opened in May and has been streaming since June.

Drishyam 3 box office: the opening weekend
Day one brought ₹62 crore nett, which The Week ranks as the third-biggest opening day in Bollywood history. Saturday added ₹53.50 crore, and Sunday climbed 14% to ₹61 crore across 17,323 shows, taking the weekend to ₹176.50 crore nett and ₹211.80 crore gross in India.
Gulf News reported about 69 lakh footfalls over those three days, with Sunday evening shows running at about 80% occupancy. Overseas markets added ₹61 crore, for a worldwide weekend of ₹272.80 crore.
Only one Hindi film has opened bigger in 2026: Dhurandhar: The Revenge, with a ₹290.94 crore nett weekend.
Drishyam 3 box office: the first eight days
The film held well on weekdays. It earned ₹21 crore on Monday, then settled at ₹13 crore to ₹15 crore a day through the week. The second Friday brought ₹14.50 crore, up 11.5% on Thursday, from 14,583 shows.
That took the India total to ₹260 crore nett and ₹312 crore gross. Overseas collections reached ₹95 crore, including ₹6 crore on the second Friday, for a worldwide gross of ₹407 crore, as tracked in The Week’s day 8 report.
Drishyam 3 box office records already broken
The Hindi Drishyam films have grown with every instalment. The 2015 original earned ₹102.75 crore nett in India over its whole run, a figure the new film passed in two days. Drishyam 2 made about ₹342 crore worldwide in its lifetime, and the third film overtook that inside its first week.
The next target, according to The Week, is the ₹279.59 crore nett India total of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, the domestic benchmark among Ajay Devgn’s films. With ₹260 crore banked after eight days, that record is within reach.
Drishyam 3 box office against its budget
Reports put the budget at ₹100 crore to ₹110 crore, so the Drishyam 3 box office gross in India passed that figure within the opening weekend. Produced by Panorama Studios and Star Studio18, the film is distributed overseas by Panorama Studios and Zee Studios.
What critics said
Reviews have been largely positive, with all 16 critics counted on Rotten Tomatoes rating it favourably. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave it 4.5 out of 5 and The Week 4, while The Times of India gave 3.5 and The Indian Express, NDTV and Hindustan Times 3. Rediff was cooler at 2.5.
That goodwill shows in the Drishyam 3 box office trend, with weekday collections holding steady after the big opening weekend.

Two films, one story
The series is unusual: each Malayalam film by Jeethu Joseph has been followed by a Hindi version. This time the two arrived months apart, with Mohanlal returning as Georgekutty in May and Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar in October.
The Hindi film picks up six months after the case against the Salgaonkar family is closed, when Meera Deshmukh, played by Tabu, pushes to reopen the investigation into her son’s death and the case heads to court.
The two are not the same story. Jeethu Joseph said in May 2026 that the Hindi and Malayalam versions would have different narratives, and The Week described the Hindi film as a fresh, original script, even though the Wikipedia entry for the Malayalam film still calls it a remake.
The Malayalam original
Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3: The Past Never Stays Silent, written and directed by Jeethu Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor for Aashirvad Cinemas, was shot between September and December 2025. Its April date was pushed back amid the regional conflict, and it opened on 21 May 2026, Mohanlal’s birthday.
Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil and Asha Sharath returned, and the film became the highest grosser in the Malayalam franchise at about ₹237.70 crore worldwide. Reviews were mixed, with praise for Mohanlal and criticism that the suspense was weaker than in earlier instalments.
One detail stands out: on opening day overseas, the Malayalam version earned about ₹10 crore more than the Hindi one. Malayalam cinema’s Gulf audience, one of its strongest anywhere, is a big part of that.
Watching Drishyam 3 in the UAE
Both versions have strong UAE audiences: Ajay Devgn’s Hindi film for the wider South Asian community, and Mohanlal’s Malayalam film for Kerala’s large Gulf diaspora. Overseas markets account for ₹95 crore of the Drishyam 3 box office total so far, so check UAE cinema listings for the Hindi version.
The Malayalam film has streamed on Prime Video since 18 June 2026, with Tamil, Telugu and Kannada dubs, so search for it in the Prime Video app in the UAE.
