An “American Meatery”, The Hide is more than just a steak house. Red meat is clearly the star at this relaxed restaurant in Al Qasr, where the décor is all polished wood, exposed brick and cosy booths with the background of country music soothing your heart. Start your meal with delicious rye breads served before the mains. For those of you who would like to try it at home, the recipe of the bread is no secret and you’ll see it written on the black board at the entrance of the restaurant.
The Surf ‘n’ Turf Gnocchi featuring a jumbo prawn and a tender beef fillet in creamy lobster sauce was sumptuous with superbly complimenting ingredients. The artichoke dip, with four types of cheese blended together with spinach and organic veggies like carrots, lettuce and tomatoes with an unforgettable creamy dip was the flavour of the day! The ‘Flat Iron Steak’ was impeccably cooked; It is a cut from top shoulder of the cow and one of their most mouth- watering, steaks. If you are not in a mood to have steak then ‘Half a French bird’ is a chicken-only dish, with tender chicken with crispy skin and delectable.
The side dishes were as good as the mains; ‘Parmesan Mashed potato’ with French butter was perfectly made and so were the ’Crushed Sweet Potatoes’ and marshmallow gratin. The dessert is called ‘Campfire S’mores’ and perfect for those who like marshmallows and peanut butter. The ‘Deep-dish Russet Apple Pie’ was delicious but the ‘Campfire S’mores’ won our hearts.
