Beating the Monotony in Monochrome!

Monochrome has found its way back into fashion, and this time it’s more than just black and white. The grandiose of monochrome lies not in playing with different colours but working with varying tones of the same colour. The concoction of black and white shall remain a classic, but now, colour has paved its way into the world of monochrome fashion.

Minimalist in its very essence, monochrome has become quite a fave with fashionistas the world over. Simple, exclusive, and undeniably chic, the style statement has captured the spot as wardrobe essentials for several celebs, right from Anushka Sharma to Ananya Panday here and Gigi Hadid and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the West. Off-beat in its simplicity, it’s not so much about statement pieces as it is about combos to create a statement.

But while the glamour kingdoms of the rich and famous have made it a staple in their wardrobe, how do we incorporate monochrome into ours? The task seems a daunting one indeed. Here are some pointers that can help you nail that monochrome look:

If you want to embrace monochrome fashion, start with the tested colours – black and white. It is almost impossible to go wrong with these.

If you are not entirely comfortable in one colour, try to neutralize it with some accessories. A few pieces of gold or silver jewellery can add to the magic of an all-white or an all-black outfit.

Similarly, an embroidered dupatta can enhance the look of a monochromatic set of Kurta-Pajama.

Once you have familiarized yourself with the monochrome way of styling, you can explore your way through the other colours.
