DIY: Simple tips to get rid of elbow and knee pigmentation

Darkening elbows and knees is a constant issue for many. It may be due to exposure to the sun, hyperpigmentation, or accumulation of dead skin cells. Whatever be the reason, darkened elbows and knees create an unevenness on our skin and none of us seem to like it. So, how do you get rid of them and bring them back to your real skin tone? Well, ask no more, here you go:

Lemon and Baking Soda
Lemon and baking soda together create a magical scrub cum bleach. All you need to do is sprinkle some baking soda on the lemon and scrub it on your knees and elbows. Keep it on for 10-50 minutes and wash it off. Repeat this for a few weeks and see the difference for yourself!

Aloe Vera and Raw Milk
Aloe Vera mixed with raw milk is not just cooling but extremely effective at lightning in the darkened area. Mix aloe vera gel with cold raw milk and apply it. Leave it for 20 minutes before you rinse it off.

Potatoes
Potatoes are also efficient bleaching agents. They help in lightening dark circles and also work equally well with elbows and knees. Just slice a potato into half and make slits on the potato, squeeze it a little and you should see the juice oozing out. Rub it on the darkened areas. You can also juice the potatoes if you find that more convenient. Keep the juice on till it dries and then rinses with lukewarm water.

Curd and Oatmeal
Curd’s acidic composition with the rough and scrubby oatmeal is the perfect solution to scrubbing and lightning the areas. Thoroughly and gently scrub using the mixture and rinse it off. Do it at least once a week for the best results.

Olive Oil and Sugar
Olive oil and sugar is a great moisturiser cum scrub. It moisturises deep within, removes the dead cells, and cleanses the skin. The solution should be scrubbed for about 15-20 minutes and then washed with warm water.
