The actress is in the in works of making a comeback to the industry with her upcoming slice of life – drama, short film titled Cakewalk that surrounds the life of a Chef balancing the ups and downs of her personal life along with the perils that come with the profession of a chef.
The film will run for a total of 27 minutes and is a directorial debut of celebrated journalist and author – Ram Kamal Mukherjee and will be co-directed by Abhra Chakroborty under the banner of Assorted Motion Pictures & SS1 Entertainment. It shall also star Siddhartha Chatterjee, Tarun Malhotra and Anindita Bose and is produced by Aritra Das, Shailendra Kumar and Dinesh Gupta. Cakewalk will be India’s first short film to air exclusively on television and will premiere on Rishtey Cineplex – a Bollywood channel from the house of Viacom18.
“I had full faith in Ram Kamal when I signed for the film and knew that he would give his all to make this remarkable,” said the actress who plays the lead protagonist, Chef Shilpa Sen in the movie. Esha Deol was last seen in the film titled Tell Me O Khuda which released in the year 2011, in which she played the lead protagonist opposite Arjan Bajwa, Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor and her father Dharmendra.
