Sonakshi Sinha is rehearsing moves for a special number on the third installment of the hit comedy, Dhamaal series. Total Dhamaal will see the young actress recreating the classic 1978 song Mungda from Inkaar performed by the legendary Helenji.
Sonakshi was recently quoted in an interview with Mumbai Mirror saying, “Helen Aunty’s grace and charm are unmatched and it would be foolish to even try to copy her. Our version is a dance number with spruced-up music, lots of choreography and it’s nothing like the original song.” it is clear from the statement that Sonakshi, while being an avid performer and lover of dancing, is still finding it difficult to fill the shoes of the timeless diva’s performance and is rightfully under pressure to do the same. Helen was one of the most popular nautch dancers of her time and living up to her performance is no easy task.
The Dabangg actress has done a variety of such special song appearances in the past, notably – ‘Go Go Go Govinda’ from Oh My God!, ‘Party All Night’ from the movie Boss, and even a music video titled ‘Move Your Lakk’ where she performed alongside Diljit Dosanjh and Badshah. Notably, she also recreated another one of Helen’s first major hit – ‘Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu’ from the 1958 film Howrah Bridge. We look forward to seeing her brighten up Total Dhamaal with her stellar performance alongside Ajay Devgn – the lead protagonist of the film, who she was also seen sharing screen space with in Son of Sardar and Action Jackson. “Since this was a dance number, I got the chance to pull Ajay’s leg as he hates dancing but it is always a pleasure working with him,” said the animated actress.
Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in the upcoming period drama – Kalank alongside actors: Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapoor. Directed by Abishek Varman, the movie is currently wrapping up its filming session and shall be in theatres – 19th April, 2019. The young actress is currently in Amritsar shooting for her role in an upcoming untitled comedy film by director Mrighdeep Lamba.
