The success press meet of Border 2 was held in Mumbai and turned out to be one of the most memorable media interactions of the year. The evening saw the presence of Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, Medha Rana, Bhushan Kumar, Nidhi Dutta and director Anurag Singh among others. While the actors shared laughter filled anecdotes and headline worthy quotes, it was Mona Singh who truly touched hearts with an emotional and deeply personal speech.

Varun Dhawan introduced her warmly before handing over the mic. Mona began on a light note and said, “Varun, you are a sweetheart. I was about to say ‘heartsweet’ as my heart is beating so fast (laughs)!” She then reflected on her connection with the film, adding, “Many times, I feel that we don’t choose scripts. The script chooses us. That’s exactly what happened to me for Border 2. When I was offered the script, I knew that I had to do this film. I came on board just a week before the shoot.”
“I was busy somewhere else promoting another show. I realized that I had to match dates as I was keen to do the film, not just because of the script, but also because I am a fauji’s daughter. My dad (Jasbir Singh) fought the 1971 war. There’s a scene at the beginning of the film where Sunny sir enters the minefield. That’s exactly what happened to my father and to many other soldiers. They stepped on the mine. My father lost his foot.”
She further stated, “Hence, the determination, resilience, fear, anxiety and pain of my character Simi Kaler is something I had lived through because of my dad. The script made it so real and easy to relate to the character. The soldiers go to the borders and their families also stand in full support with them.”

January 2026 has further solidified Mona Singh’s remarkable run with back to back successes including Happy Patel, Border 2 and Kohrra Season 2, where she has been basking in the success of the hit season. Adding her own magic to every role, Mona has consistently delivered layered and impactful performances across genres. With this extraordinary streak, she continues to stand tall as one of the finest performers we have today.
