One of the most popular outdoor location for Bollywood films of the 60s and the 70’s, Kashmir might just open its doors to Bollywood shoots shortly.
Recently actress Sana Khan, Aditya Nayaran, singer Sukhwinder Singh, Salman Ali, Guru Randhawa, Shehnaz Gill and Badshah were among those who visited Kashmir this winter. All of these celebrities had one thing to say about Kashmir that it’s the most beautiful place on the planet. Recently, representatives of some big Bollywood production houses be it Ajay Devgn Ffilms, Sanjay Dutt Productions, Reliance Entertainment and Rohit Shetty Picturez, among others, visited the valley.
According to Nitin Gurkari, member of Producers Guild Mumbai,”The relation between Bollywood and Kashmir is not new. We are trying to start and revive the whole process again as it used to be in earlier days. We are also hopeful that in the coming days we will get all the help from tourism department and would be great to come back to these locales to shoot again.”
Even the Jammu and Kashmir government is trying its best to make the Valley a favourite film shooting destination again. The new policy of the government is to facilitate the film crews as much as possible.
“The relation between Kashmir and Bollywood is decades old. Since 1960, many films were shot here in the Valley. Big Banners used to shoot films here and tourism was always benefited because of that. Now we have taken up an initiative to revive the tradition of shootings in the Valley. We will give them easy access to come and shoot here. And we’ll provide them with every facility. Kashmir needs to be there on international tourism map again and these shoots will also generate employment for the people of the Valley,” said GN Itoo, Director Tourism.
A host of celebrities took to twitter to show support of the move. Hope to see Bollywood films in the picturesque locales of the ” Paradise on Earth.”
