Providing some much-needed jollies in this tumultuous world today is the trailer for Zee Studios’ new movie, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari! A laugh riot paying homage to the family entertainers of the 90s, the movie promises to be a hilarious watch starring Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Manoj Bajpayee.
Watching Bajpayee don drastically different disguises to embody the wedding detective who makes his living out of spying prospective grooms in the trailer will leave you curious to see the multiple characters he’ll be playing! Complimenting his brilliance is Diljit Dosanjh with his perfect comedic delivery and Fatima Sana Shaikh in a novel avatar for her — A Marathi Mulgi (Girl).
Talking about his passion project, director Abhishek Sharma says, “This film captures the innocence of bygone times. There is a certain simplicity in the tone we have used which we hope to remind people of the movies of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee. It is a clean family-comedy. It is a funny film but we have consciously ensured to not tread into slapstick humor. It’s a take on the great Indian wedding ‘milestone’ where the whole family participates and ends up in hilarious situations.”
Set against the backdrop of Mumbai in 1995, the glorious 90s era is sure to make us all nostalgic for simpler times. From the typical cars reminiscent of Mumbai in the 90s to the music to the music that was a trademark for the 90s Hindi cinema, every detail of the city is beautifully woven into the trailer.
