Total Dhamaal

Produced by: Indra Kumar, Ashok Thakeria
Directed by: Indra Kumar
Star Cast: Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Sanjay Mishra

FFME RATINGS:  (2.5)

Indra Kumar is back once again with the third installment of the Dhamaal franchise that began in 2007. Though the Dhamaal madcaps Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi and Javed Jaffrey continue to tickle our funny bones, the main attraction is the comeback of the ‘Dhak-dhak’ jodi Anil-Madhuri almost after 20 years. As expected, the story of the film is similar to previous two installments – A hidden treasure of 50 crore leads to a mad chase amongst a bunch of greedy and bizarre characters. In them, are a bickering couple on the verge of a divorce, greedy siblings, local goons, a police commissioner and the mastermind of the loot.

Here’s our five picks from the film which will make your viewing experience better:

Anil – Madhuri’s evergreen chemistry

The film’s big attraction includes the comeback of the 90s Jodi of Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit. We feel nostalgic and go back to the Tezaab, Beta, Ram Lakhan days. Coming back to Total Dhamaal, this magical pairing of Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit brings out the most LOL moments. The duo still shares a crackling chemistry and an impeccable partnership for comedy. Anil is hilarious as the distressed pati with his amusing Gujarati accent and Madhuri uses her natural flair for Marathi to hit all the right comic notes.

Riteish Deshmukh’s ease for comedy

Riteish is known for his comic timings and he surely doesn’t disappoint us this time either. He convinces us as a pan-chewing ruffian Lallan, who puts his mouth where the money is, literally. His chemistry with Johnny Lever is outstanding. He knows how to use right punches at the right time.

The moments and punches

This film is a complete laughter riot, right from a car with no boot, a helicopter which is made of a rickshaw, another high-end car with ‘Chindi’ navigation which has a voice over of Mumbai’s ‘Tapori’ language which reminds you of Jackie Shroff to Anil-Madhuri’s husband and wife banter. Overall, there’s no dull moment in the film.

Crystal’s Bollywood debut

Not many know that the monkey used in this film ‘Crystal’ is a popular Hollywood star. His Hollywood filmography is quite strong with films like George of the Jungle, Night at the Museum and Hangover 2. He plays a character of a security guard of the Omkar Zoo and shows off his acting skills. There are many animals used in this film but this little chimp won our hearts.

Sonakshi’s ‘Mungda’ moves

Total Dhamaal joins the bandwagon of retreading the old songs and giving it a total new avatar with the song Mungda. The original 70s track was sung by Usha Mangeshkar and picturized on Helan, one of the finest dancers Indian Cinema could ever had. Sonakshi received a wrath of fans for making an attempt to recreate Helan’s song but we urge you to watch this song on the big screens as we loved this girl and her dance moves.
