The actress debuts on social media; immediately supports young, women artistes
A veritable example of poise and elegance, Zeenat Aman brought a smile on the faces of everyone who is a fan of Bollywood through the ’80s. Joining Instagram yesterday, the actress described herself as an actor, mother and a maverick. She debuted with an effortless picture of herself, in the late afternoon light, making us feel as if she is actually in conversation with us, the viewers. She was welcomed by fans and other celebrities alike, with many expressing joy at finally seeing their favourite actress on social media.

She says, “In the 70s the film and fashion industry was absolutely male dominated, and I would often be the only woman on a set. Over the course of my career I have been photographed and filmed by many talented men. A woman’s gaze though, is different. It’s such a pleasure to see so many young women working on both sides of the lens today. I look forward to discovering more such talent on Instagram.” She acknowledged Mumbai-based photographer Tanya Agarwal for capturing her in her natural, comfortable element.
