The story of the film revolves around a father-daughter relationship, which is said to be inspired by the relationship Shabana Azmi shared with her father, the celebrated poet Kaifi Azmi. The narrative is about how a father encourages his daughter to pursue dance in a conservative society.

Naseeruddin Shah plays an important role in the film. Danish Husain plays the father while the daughter’s role is essayed by 14-year-old Aditi Sharma from Mijwan. The film has been shot in Mizwan, the late poet’s hometown.
