The Hollywood star is in talks to reprise his The Amazing Spider-Man 2 role as the villain Electro in the upcoming Tom Holland-starrer Spider-Man 3

Jamie Foxx as Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Jamie Foxx is in talks for a major role in Spider-Man 3 that is slated for a 2021 release. And all buzz is indicating that he may be seen reprising his role as Electro. The Hollywood actor had played the spidey villain in the The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) that had Andrew Garfield in the role of the MCU superhero Spider-Man. And in all likelihood, the 2021 movie will have him return as the powerful electrical villain.

Fan theories too see that as a possibility. One of the theories suggest that the 2014 movie did not really show him die and the electricity surge may have forced him to either change form (since energy cannot really be destroyed) or may have projected him into another dimension of time, which makes his return highly probable. Internet is also abuzz with hints of a live-action remake of the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), in which case, we may get to see Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield don their spidey suits once again.

While we await, the confirmation about Jamie’s role in Spider-Man 3 from the movie-bosses, what they have confirmed for now is the pushing ahead of the Tom Holland spidey flick on their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Phase 4 slate from July 16, 2021 to November 2021 and then to December 17, 2021.

Backed by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, the film will be helmed by Jon Watts (director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2017 and Spider-Man: Far From Home, 2019) and the cast includes the previous film’s actors including Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori who will be seen reprising their roles from the 2019 spidey movie.
