The Girl On The Train Trailer: Dark, edgy and intriguing – Parineeti Chopra’s upcoming thriller looks promising

Directed by Ribhu Dasguta, the film also stars Kirti Kulhari, Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary and will stream on Netflix from February 26

The trailer of the much-talked about Ribhu Dasgupta film The Girl On The Train was released today. Starring Parineeti Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari and Avinash Tiwary, the murder mystery is based on a novel of the same name by Paula Hawkins. The novel was previously also adapted into a Hollywood film starring Emily Blunt – who played the central character being played by Parineeti in the Hindi adaptation.

Parineeti plays Meera Kapoor and the trailer opens with her talking about a woman (Aditi) who she sees and admires from the window of her train during her regular commute. She hints at signs of jealousy of that woman’s seemingly happy and perfect married life as Meera admits that the woman has everything that she herself had once wanted and had. However, in a turn of events, Meera – who is shown to suffer from short-term amnesia – finds herself implicated in the murder of the same woman. Even as she’s battling her past (a failed marriage) she gets sucked into a crime unwillingly. However, she sets out to prove her innocence and unravel the truth.

The trailer looks dark, intriguing and edgy. Dasgupta has managed to weave in that air of mystery beautifully in the impactful trailer. The film is a crucial one for Parineeti and she might just deliver that much-needed power-punch in this one.

Produced by Reliance Entertainment, The Girl On The Train is a direct-to-digital release on the OTT platform Netflix on February 26, 2021.
