Emirates Festival of Literature kicks off with a good start

Literature, film, art, and food are brought together in a melodious symphony at the live and virtual 2021 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature in Dubai. Spread across three locations, the festival began on January 29, 2021, at the Jameel Arts Centre.

In light of the global pandemic, the festival offers a blend of virtual and in-person sessions with both local and international authors over three weekends rather than the usual two. The decision was undertaken to prevent overcrowding and ensure the safety of the festival-goers.

Some of the authors present at the festival are Avni Doshi, Dana Dajani, Elif Shafak, Clare Mackintosh, Maitha Al Khayat, Luigi Bonomi, Malala Yousafzai among many others.

The second weekend of the festival (February 4 to February 6) will be held at InterContinental Dubai and the final session will be at Alserkal Avenue on February 12 and February 13.

Attendees can expect talks, workshops, performances, panel discussions, and special events that cater both to adults and kids. Most sessions will take place in English or Arabic, with some sessions providing dual translation.
