As Dubai prepares to ring in the New Year, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced extended public transport services to accommodate the anticipated surge of revelers.
Extended Public Transport Services
- Dubai Metro: Operating continuously from 8:00 AM on December 31, 2024, until midnight on January 1, 2025, ensuring seamless connectivity throughout the festivities.
- Dubai Tram: Running from 9:00 AM on December 31, 2024, until 1:00 AM on January 2, 2025, providing additional options for travelers.
- Public Buses: Approximately 230 buses will be deployed free of charge to transport passengers to key celebration areas, enhancing accessibility and reducing congestion.
Road Closures and Traffic Management
To facilitate safe and efficient movement during the New Year’s Eve celebrations, several major roads will be closed:
4:00 PM Onwards:
- Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard
- Al Asayel Road
- Al Mustaqbal Street
- Burj Khalifa Street
8:00 PM Onwards:
- Al Sukuk Street
9:00 PM Onwards:
- Upper level of the Financial Road
- Financial Centre Street Lower Deck
- Sheikh Zayed Road (closed to all traffic)
These closures are implemented to ensure public safety and to manage the large crowds expected in celebration zones.
High-Traffic Areas
The following locations are anticipated to experience the highest traffic volumes due to New Year’s Eve events:
- Downtown Dubai: Home to the iconic Burj Khalifa, this area will host the main fireworks display and is expected to attract a significant number of visitors.
- Burj Al Arab: Known for its luxurious ambiance, this area will also feature special events, contributing to increased traffic.
- Festival City: Hosting multiple events, including fireworks and concerts, this venue will see a substantial influx of attendees.
