Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, directed by Anees Bazmee, is being called a spiritual sequel to the Akshay Kumar starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa and features Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani as the leading lady and Tabu in an important role. Bhool Bhulaiya 1, directed by Priyadarshan was based on the Malayalam superhit Manichitratazhu, that starred Mohanlal, Shobana and Suresh Gopi. It was a psychological thriller though it seemed to have elements of the supernatural.
