Lighting Up the UAE: New Year Fireworks Across the Emirates

As the United Arab Emirates prepares to welcome the New Year, several emirates beyond Dubai are hosting spectacular fireworks displays and celebrations. Here’s a guide to some of the most anticipated events:

Dubai

  • Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR): The vibrant Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) is a hotspot for beachgoers and firework enthusiasts. Its open beach area offers uninterrupted views of the fireworks, making it an ideal place for families and groups.
  • Global Village: It combines cultural celebrations with dazzling fireworks displays. As one of Dubai’s most family-friendly destinations, it offers live entertainment, international cuisine, and a unique chance to watch multiple countdowns as the New Year rolls in across different time zones.
  • Burj Khalifa: It’s the crown jewel of Dubai’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. Each year, the iconic skyscraper features a breathtaking display of fireworks, laser shows, and synchronized music.

Abu Dhabi

  • Sheikh Zayed Festival (Al Wathba): This festival is set to dazzle attendees with a 60-minute nonstop fireworks display, aiming to break three new Guinness World Records in terms of quantity, time, and formation.
  • Yas Island: Visitors can enjoy fireworks beginning at 9:00 PM, continuing until midnight. Prime viewing spots include Yas Bay Waterfront and Yas Marina.
  • Al Maryah Island Promenade: A midnight fireworks display will light up the sky, providing a picturesque backdrop for New Year’s celebrations.
  • Hudayriyat Island: Known for its vibrant atmosphere, Hudayriyat Island will feature a colorful fireworks show at midnight, offering a family-friendly environment with dining options and activities available until the early hours. 

Ras Al Khaimah

  • Al Marjan Island and Al Hamra Village: Ras Al Khaimah is set to host a 15-minute fireworks and drone display, aiming to set new records. The event, stretching across a 4.5 km waterfront, will feature pyro drones, nano lights, and choreographed music. Festivities commence at 2:00 PM on December 31, with entertainment, food trucks, and activities for all ages. 

Sharjah

  • New Year’s Eve Celebrations: In solidarity with Gaza, Sharjah has announced a ban on New Year’s Eve fireworks and celebrations this year. 

Hatta

  • Hatta Festival: While geographically part of Dubai, Hatta offers a mountainous retreat for New Year’s Eve. As part of the Hatta Festival, the area will feature fireworks illuminating the mountain range just before midnight on December 31. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty alongside the festive display.
