Benedict Cumberbatch who plays the role of Marvel Superhero and interdimensional traveler, Doctor Strange will be making appearances in the next Spider-man movie with Tom Holland.
This move will give Peter Parker the mentor and father figure he previously found in Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. This crossover makes sense given that the upcoming movie takes place in New York and Doctor Strange is from New York.
Adding to the justification is how Doctor Strange will explain the return of Electro, played by Jamie Foxx whose character was last seen in The Amazing Spiderman 2, starring Andrew Garfield.
The Tom Holland starring Spider-man 3 is all set to begin shooting in Atlanta, USA in October and around this same time, Cumberbatch will also begin shooting for his Doctor Strange sequel, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness in London. As this sequel will explore more alternate realities, it can be speculated that herein lies the crossover between our favourite doctor and web-slinging superhero. However, it is unclear when and where Benedict Cumberbatch will be shooting his scenes for the next Spider-man movie.
Spider-man and Doctor Strange notably first met in Avengers: Infinity War.
Most of the supporting cast — Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Tony Revolori, is expected to reappear as their respective characters in the movie.
The director for Spider-man: Homecoming and Spider-man: Far from Home, Jon Watts will be taking his place in the director’s chair for the third Spider-man movie starring Peter Parker as well.
While Sony dated the movie to release on December 17, 2021, that date may get postponed due to the pandemic.
