On Vir Das’ birthday today, we bring to you some of his memorable films

He is one of India’s most known and loved comedian. Progressive, sarcastic, clever, sassy and intelligent, he states the most unsaid words, dusted with his brand of humour, that is politically incorrect, intelligent, quirky. metaphorical and makes audiences the world over, laugh out loud at the same time marvel at his intelligence and his resistance to the  establishment.

The Indian comedian, actor and musician who has a successful career in standup comedy, has been part of Hindi cinema starring in films like Delhi BellyBadmaash Company and Go Goa Gone. In 2017, he entered the international stage with his Netflix special Abroad Understanding. Das has performed in approximately 35 plays, over 100 stand-up comedy shows, 18 films, eight TV shows and six comedy specials. He has written comedic columns for magazines and in 2019, he made his debut in American television with the television series, Whiskey Cavalier.  Das was also seen in Hasmukh, an Indian dark comedy streaming television series directed by Nikhil Gonsalves. Co-created and written by Nikkhil Advani and Vir Das, the series starred Das, Ranvir Shorey, Amrita Bagchi, Ravi Kishan, Inaamulhaq and Manoj Pahwa. The story follows a small-town comedian who is also a serial killer. Hasmukh premiered on Netflix on 17 April, 2020.
