Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been dropping teasers for Shaakuntalam for weeks now, and fans can’t wait to catch the film on the silver screen. A mythological saga based on Kalidasa’s play Abhijnana Shakuntalam, this Telugu film narrates the romantic story between the heavenly nymph Meneka and King Dushyant. Just as the couple in the tale has to overcome obstacles, it seems that the film’s release also needs a solution.

Shaakuntalam was earlier slated to release on Nov 4, 2022, but was pushed to a Feb 2023 to accommodate 3D compatibility. However, as luck would have it, Feb saw a no-show, and the film is now announced to release on Apr 14. This comes on the heels of Samantha sharing a heartwarming note on social media, having finally watch the film herself. She is thankful to the director, Gunashekar, and the team, and says that can’t she ‘wait for our family audiences to be swept away by the powerful emotions!’
