SOUND CHECK: Shor Police makes its debut in Telugu film with Samantha Ruth Parbhu’s Subham!

After shaking up playlists with the chart-topping soundtrack of Dhoom Dhaam, musical mavericks Clinton Cerejo and Bianca Gomes a.k.a. the ever-electric duo Shor Police – are now making some serious shor in Tollywood with Subham – the first production venture of Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Known for turning soundscapes into sonic rollercoasters, Shor Police have composed the original soundtrack for Subham, giving the film’s quirky horror-comedy vibe a dose of their signature boldness, genre-hopping wizardry, and just the right amount of mischief.

The five-track album is a genre buffet – think R&B grooves, Telugu rap, hip-hop, retro TV vibes, and moody electro – all neatly wrapped in the chaos and charm of Subham’s haunted universe. From summoning spirits to spoofing soap operas, this soundtrack’s got range.

Let’s break it down:

  • Vellipove – An R&B earworm sung by Kunal Ganjawala, where villagers hilariously plead with ghosts to go away – yes, in English.

  • Jaagratha – A rap-heavy firecracker by Telugu indie stars AsurA and Nawab Gang, set smack in the middle of a wedding scene.

  • Ayyo Paapam – A cheeky R&B duet with Clinton and Bianca themselves, oozing sass and slyness.

  • Janma Janmala Bandham – The theme song of a fictional 90s soap opera that’s key to the plot. It’s nostalgic, dramatic, and we love it.

  • The Clock Strikes 9 – A modern, electro twist on that same theme, voiced by Bianca and Zain Boxwala, for when things get spooky.

In true overachiever style, Shor Police are doubling down with another release next week – Pune Highway, a Bollywood album packed with Sunidhi Chauhan, Armaan Malik, Siddharth Mahadevan, and more. Basically, they’re dropping back-to-back soundtracks like musical mic drops.

“It’s our first time composing for a Telugu film, though we’ve sung in the South before. What thrilled us was the freedom to go nuts with genres – TV serial drama one second, R&B swagger the next. And Samantha gave us that space to explore.” – Clinton, Shor Police

“It was like getting a blank canvas—and no rules. Which is the dream. Once we clicked with the creative team, everything flowed. We weren’t just making songs—we were telling the story in our own weird, wonderful way.”

– Bianca, Shor Police

Subham hits theatres worldwide on May 9, 2025, with Pune Highway cruising in right behind it on May 16.
