“You know he didn’t take one shot for granted,” says Nani discussing Aamir Khan’s work
Nani, the natural star of Telugu cinema, shared his thoughts on Aamir Khan in a recent conversation, discussing the profound impact, Bollywood icon has had on Indian cinema. Reflecting on Aamir’s golden period, Nani recalled, “Aamir sir at one point of time; Dil Chahta Hai, Rang De Basanti, Lagaan; Films came back to back, and with each film, he delivered some original experience at that particular time. Emotional experience, and with a lot of effort.”
According to Nani, what truly sets Aamir apart is his unwavering dedication to his craft. “You know he didn’t take one single film or one single shot for granted. You know he gave his best. And that’s what matters and that’s what inspires you,” Nani added, emphasizing how Aamir’s approach continues to inspire actors across the industry.
Despite his storied career, Aamir remains humble and introspective, especially when it comes to his recent work. He recently addressed what went wrong with ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, a film that, despite high expectations, didn’t connect with audiences as intended. Aamir candidly acknowledged a creative choice he made that may have contributed to this—raising his voice pitch for the titular role, a contrast to Tom Hanks’ iconic performance in Forrest Gump. Hanks’ subtlety was a hallmark of his portrayal, and Aamir’s decision to deviate from that proved to be a risk that didn’t entirely pay off.
However, true to his nature, Aamir is already channeling these learnings into his upcoming project ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ and briefly mentioned how enjoyable the project has been for him. In this film, Aamir Khan stars alongside Genelia Deshmukh and also takes on the role of producer under his banner, Aamir Khan Productions. The film is slated for a December 25 release, promising to bring Aamir’s signature dedication and passion to the big screen once again.
