It did all of this without a single screening in UAE, Saudi or other Gulf cinemas, where the film was not released. Fans in the region finally caught up when it arrived on Netflix UAE on 15 May.

The day 24 figures come from The Week’s records tracker, which compiles trade data. Box office numbers are trade estimates and can differ slightly between sources.
1. First Hindi film past ₹1,000 crore nett in India
No Hindi film had ever crossed ₹1,000 crore nett in India before. Dhurandhar: The Revenge passed the mark on 6 April, its 19th day, and had reached ₹1,055.94 crore by day 24.
2. ₹1,000 crore from the Hindi version alone
The film was also dubbed into Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, but the Hindi original did most of the work. It became the first Indian film to earn ₹1,000 crore from its Hindi version alone.
3. The highest-grossing Hindi film in India
Among the Dhurandhar 2 records, this is the one trade watchers waited for. It passed Baahubali 2‘s lifetime India nett of about ₹1,030 crore, the figure The Week used as the benchmark.
4. The biggest Hindi opening day
The Hindi version opened to ₹99.10 crore nett, well ahead of the ₹70.30 crore set by Pushpa 2. Paid previews the evening before added ₹75 crore, another record for an Indian film, ahead of Stree 2 and They Call Him OG.
5. Two ₹100 crore days in a row
The first Saturday and Sunday each crossed ₹100 crore nett in Hindi. No Indian film had managed back-to-back ₹100 crore days in Hindi nett before.
6. The fastest Hindi version to ₹500 crore
The Hindi version reached ₹500 crore in just six days. For context, most Hindi blockbusters spend their entire run trying to reach that figure.
The pace is more striking given the length. All of the Dhurandhar 2 records came with a 229-minute running time and an A certificate, which means fewer shows per screen each day and an adults-only audience.
7. More than 15 million tickets on BookMyShow
It was the first Bollywood film to sell over 15 million tickets on BookMyShow. By the end of its run, total admissions had passed 4 crore, or 40 million.
8. The fastest Hindi film to ₹1,000 crore worldwide
It took seven days to gross ₹1,000 crore worldwide. Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, the previous benchmark, needed 18. The opening weekend alone was worth about ₹759.91 crore globally.
9. The fastest Indian film to ₹1,500 crore worldwide
The Week reported on 3 April that it had become the fastest Indian film to gross ₹1,500 crore worldwide, a mark it reached in its second week.

10. Part one’s lifetime beaten in 11 days
The sequel overtook the first Dhurandhar‘s entire worldwide run in just 11 days, grossing about ₹1,365 crore by then, as The Hollywood Reporter India noted. The two films together have grossed more than ₹3,203 crore.
11. Dhurandhar 2 records in North America
On 5 April, it became the first Indian film to cross $25 million in North America, passing Baahubali 2. By day 24 it had reached $26 million there.
12. Dhurandhar 2 records in Australia, Germany and the UK
It became the highest-grossing Indian film ever in Australia, with about $8.26 million, and in New Zealand. It was also the first Indian film to cross €1 million in Germany and became the top Indian earner in the UK, with about £4.39 million.
Where the Dhurandhar 2 records left the film
The film finished with a worldwide gross of about ₹1,852 crore, according to its Wikipedia entry. That makes it the second-highest-grossing Indian film of all time, behind only Dangal, and the highest-grossing A-rated Indian film ever.
Overseas markets contributed about ₹475.93 crore, a total that excludes both the Gulf and China.
Reviews versus the Dhurandhar 2 records
The Dhurandhar 2 records arrived despite mixed reviews. Taran Adarsh gave it 4.5 out of 5 and Hindustan Times 4 out of 5, while The Indian Express gave it 2, and only 33% of 21 critics counted by Rotten Tomatoes were positive.
Praise went to Ranveer Singh’s performance, the soundtrack and the technical work. The criticism centred on its violence and what some reviewers saw as nationalist messaging.
The Gulf factor
Every one of the Dhurandhar 2 records above was set without GCC cinemas, where the film was banned, as its predecessor had been. The Gulf is normally one of Bollywood’s strongest overseas markets, so the overseas total would almost certainly have been higher.
Viewers in the UAE got a different version too. Khaleej Times reported that Netflix UAE carries the extended international cut, tagged “Raw & Undekha”, with footage that never reached cinemas.
Streaming value
The record run fed straight into the streaming deal. The Week reported that JioHotstar paid between ₹120 and ₹150 crore for the sequel’s Indian rights, about double what Netflix paid for the first film. The JioHotstar premiere followed in India on 4 June.
