Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak acquires the remake rights of the Malayalam hit thriller
Mohanlal starrer Drishyam 2 – The Resumption is all set to get a Hindi remake. Confirming the same, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak of Panorama Studio International shared that they have acquired the Hindi remake rights of the Malayalam hit. In a statement released, the production house announced: “With the huge success of Drishyam 2, the story needs to be told with passion and commitment and we as Producers are committed to that.”
The Malayalam film that was a direct-to-digital release on Amazon Prime Video earlier this year (2021), was the sequel to the hit Drishyam (2013). Set six years after the events of the first film, it follows the struggles of the Georgekutty family as they become the subject of gossip in the village. Written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film had the South superstar Mohanlal reprise the role of Georgekutty. The 2015 Hindi remake of the original starred Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran and Tabu in lead roles.
Jeethu Joseph has also directed the Telugu remake of Drishyam 2, although it’s not confirmed if he will also be directing the Hindi remake.
