On Kapil Dev’s birthday, Ranveer Singh feels thankful on portraying him onscreen

Ranveer is riding on unanimous love and acclaim for his impeccable portrayal of Kapil Dev in 83 and many feel he will sweep all awards this season. Ranveer wants to be on the path of exploration and experimentation in his next decade in cinema.
He says, “I intent to continue on this path and continue to explore. I am living the dream. I wake up in disbelief everyday till date that I am actor. I still cant get over it and I am grateful for the opportunities. This is till date I say a prayer of gratitude everyday and I am recognise and value my opportunities and got to play Kapil Dev in the definitive 83 movie. It blows my mind.”
The superstar adds, “I cannot tell you it is fulfilling it is to be in a screening of 83 when you see people laughing, crying, standing up to applaud and they are feeling this emotion together in a community viewing. They have shared an experience together and that is life. Life is a shared experience and that’s what I want to continue to do.”

With 83, Ranveer has established himself as the biggest actor of his generation and has the baton has been passed to him to lead the industry now. Ranveer is a shape-shifter who can do anything – from Bajirao, to Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, to Simmba, to Gully Boy, and now as Kapil in 83 – he has proven that he is a chameleon who can do anything. He has played characters without any reference point whatsoever and has delivered the best performances on screen in the last 10 years. He has made his place as one of the best actors in the history of Indian cinema with 83.

Ranveer feels the powerhouse, one in a generation actor that he has become today is thanks to the crème de la crème film-makers of India like Sanjay Leela Bhansali (with whom he has collaborated in Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat), Rohit Shetty (Simmba, cameo in Sooryavanshi and now Cirkus), Zoya Akhtar (Dil Dhadakne Do, Gully Boy), Kabir Khan (83), Maneesh Sharma (Band Baaja Baarat), among others. He has also been chosen by the maverick visionary S. Shankar to headline the official remake of Anniyan.

Ranveer says, “I am really just in the process of exploring my self as a person. To do diff characters and present diff films that us as the people can be proud of, I feel duty bound to entertain people. Its been an amazing 10 years. I have worked with the finest filmmakers who have shaped me, taught me what it means to be artist. I have learnt so much but I feel hunger. My hunger is insatiable, I want to do more films like 83 that receive this kind of unanimous love.“
