Bro Daddy, is the second directorial venture of actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran with actor Mohanlal essaying the lead role in the film. The comedy-drama is written by Bibin Maliekal and N. Sreejith. Prithviraj has already proved his talent in direction with his first movie ‘Lucifer.’ Earlier during an award function, Prithviraj had said: “Bro Daddy is a normal film, I have invested all my hard work into the film and for me its a simple good film but still its the audience who should decide on whether the end product is appealing or not. There is nothing really special to say about the film”.
Prithviraj Sukumaran shared a poster of Bro Daddy with Mohanlal and wrote, “In more ways than one, I’m an accidental director. Although I’ve always wanted to make my own films, my debut directorial happened because #MuraliGopy thought I should helm #Lucifer. He believed in me before anyone else. Much the same way, #Sreejith and #Bibin came to me with the script of #BroDaddy through our mutual friend #VivekRamadevan. I’m still not sure why they thought I’d be the right person to come to for this project, but I’m glad they did!”
He further added how Bro Daddy is very different from his first film Lucifer. “As a film, #BroDaddy is as different as anything can be from #Lucifer and that’s what made me want to direct it. It needed me to rethink completely and attempt a language of film making that will be far far away from #Lucifer or #Empuraan. Like always, I thought it’s a very exciting risk to take, and I did!”
Bro Daddy explores the unique relationship between John Kattadi (Mohanlal) and his son Eesho John Kattadi (Prithviraj Sukumaran). The father-son duo is often mistaken for brothers. Meena appears as Annamma, the wife of John Kattadi and mother of Eesho. Kalyani Priyadarshan plays Eesho’s love interest, Anna.
The film is packed with a huge cast list including Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Meena, Lalu Alex, Murali Gopy, Kaniha, Soubin Shahir, etc. Prithviraj is currently shooting for the upcoming film ‘Kaduva’ where he plays the role of ‘Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan’ and the film will be directed by Shaji Kailas and Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi will be also playing a major lead in the film.
